3 A Week (Franjo: A Journeyman Story – Meta-sode 188.5)

I’m going to trial doing 3 episodes a week for the second half of the season.

Start from the start with episode 1

< Episode 188

Latest short story (Somewhat ironically) – “Three”

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these meta-sodes, but basically I’m going to trial doing 3 episodes a week for the second half of the season so I thought I’d write a quick bit about why.

(This half-season ends after Friday’s episode and the second half will start up again on the 17th September)

Those of you who read this story regularly will have noticed that my writing has been sporadic at best in 2018, especially in the last 4 or 5 months and there are a tonne of reasons for that that I’m not going to go into. The short version is that I’ve been using a lot of my free time lately to write things other than this (Note the recent spike in short stories) but mainly to do and learn things outside of writing altogether, to the point that I can’t really keep up with 5 episodes a week.

This is why there hasn’t really been any mini-sodes during the first half of this season, which you may or may not have liked, that’s up to you. But yeah I’m hoping that by going to 3 a week it’ll be sort of a “less haste, more speed” approach that’ll mean I don’t need to take as many breaks, because taking breaks from the story altogether actually does my head in.

So that’s going to be the second half of this season. I’m planning on releasing episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday and fingers crossed it’ll make for a better and more consistently released story. Let me know what you think because as I say it’s a trial, so based off how I think it goes and how you lot think it goes, we may or may not go back to 5 a week next season.

To be clear, I still bloody love writing this thing and thanks once again for reading it. It hit me when we got to 300 matches the other day actually. I’ve written about 300 matches (Excluding friendlies I assume) and presumably you’ve read about 300 matches and here we all still are. Mental. Anyway, I’m rambling.

  1. To be honest, I feel (fear) that this might be the beginning of the end. To often one announces intentions of a short period of lower commitment, only to realise that the golden days are gone and the enthusiasm has waned. From my viewpoint, there are nothing pointing at anything like a lower quality in the narrative or such. This story is still the best I’ve read in the genre and I want it to go on for ever. Just be honest to yourself Franjo and do what feels right. If you think three episodes a week is the way to go, then do it! Or take a break, or cut it to once weekly. Anything to maintain that inspiration that you transcribe so eloquently in these series. I hope you find your balance mate!

    1. I did sort of worry that that would be the perception, but don’t worry mate I’m seeing this through to the bitter end and my enthusiasm’s not gone yet 😄 as I say, just trying to balance my time better and make it so I don’t have to go missing so often

      1. Alright. But there is no end in football manager. Or… there is an end and it is bitter because it is when your save game file is corrupted or when you just had to try another manager career just for a wee bit and it was fabulous and you never returned to the old one because it was beige in comparison.

Anyway, do your balance act and keep it up! I agree with Sammu. There will be more work done Tuesdays and Thursdays now.
